Sailing the Clipper City
The Clipper City Tallship sails four times a day from Pier 17 at South Street Seaport. Immediately upon departure, passengers encounter stunning views of the Brooklyn Bridge. A full bar on board serves original nautical cocktails and a wide selection of beer and wine. Guests are welcome to help hoist sails, or they may just sit back and enjoy the sweeping views of downtown Manhattan.
Sailing across New York Harbor, powered only by wind, Clipper City passes close to the Statue of Liberty. Guests see all the harbor’s great landmarks: Ellis Island, the Manhattan skyline, the fortifications of Governors Island, and Battery Park at the mouth of the Hudson River. Depending on the winds and tides, the captain may sail up the Buttermilk Channel or out to the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which spans the ocean entrance to New York Harbor. And the prevailing winds guarantee an exciting adventure on the waters, one unique to the tall-boat sailing experience, one seldom encountered in the modern world.
